Depressive disorders are categorize into MDD and dysthymia
- MDD (persistent low mood, severe symptoms - affect daily functioning) 2 months
- Dysthymia (persistent mild, less serious symptoms) 2 years

A
Mood - suicidal thoughts - hopelessness - sad - irritated - pessimism Physical - increase/decrease appetite - no energy - increase/decrease sleep - decrease sex drive - joint pains Psychological - cannot concentrate - poor memory - slowed thinking

dopamine pathways
A
- mesolimbic \+ve (hellucination, delusion) - mesocortical -ve and cognitive - nigrostriatal movement - tuberoinfundibular blocked dopamine will increase prolactin level whcih can cause amenorrhea
-ve = lack of energy, speech, motivation cognitive = poor memory, reduced attention, decreased verbal fluency
