MD: NMR Flashcards
1
Q
What kind of solvents are samples dissolved in?
A
Solvents without lone protons, like Deuterated solvents.
Deuterium (isotope of H) that has a positive mass number- so no spin.
2
Q
Give 3 things that an NMR spectrum shows you
A
1- The different proton environments
(chemical shifts)
2- The relative number of protons (relative peak area)
3- The number of protons adjacent to a particular proton
(Splitting pattern)
3
Q
What is chemical shift measured relative to?
A
Tetramethylsilane
(TMS)
Si(CH3)4
