MCB Flashcards
1
Q
State the two different regions in human genome
A
gene-dense ( 1 gene per 20kb) and gene-poor regions
2
Q
State the two human global genome clusters
A
alpha cluster (chromosome 16- 40kb) and beta cluster (chromosome 11-30kb)
3
Q
What is needed for the regulation of chromatin structure?
A
Acetylates, deacetylases and methylates- hypoacetylation causes recruitment of SIR2,SIR3 and SR4 proteins which cause condensation of nucleosomes and thus, closed chromatin
4
Q
How does ori works ?
A
- recruitment of proteins and DNA helices to form pre replicative complexes
- degradation of phosphorylated cdc6 by cyclin-dependent phosphorylation and phosphorylation of ORC occurs
- DNA helicase unwinds and enables the initiation of DNA replication
5
Q
How is ori essential(DNA replication during interphase) for cell division and cell cycle?
A
- ori initiates DNA replication ( during interphase) and makes sure daughter cells have same number of chromosomes after mitosis and cell division
6
Q
State crucial proteins required for 3’ polyadenylation.
A
- Cleavage and Polyadenylation specificity factor
- Cleavage Stimulation Factor
- Poly A polymerase
- Poly A binding protein
