How do Christian belief in life after death affect them? (Whats happens after death)
Resurrection- after death body stays in grave till Judgement day. When everyones raised and judged by God. So want to lead good lives to get to heaven.
Why Muslims believe in life after death?
Qur’an and Muhammad state it exists. One of the ‘6 fundamental beliefs’ of Islam. Life is a test- reward/punishment only come in next life.
How beliefs in life after death affect Muslims?
Get to heaven- must lead good life- follow five pillars, Shari’ah law. All gives meaning and purpose to life= less likely to commit suicide.

Near death experiences- people say travelled through tunnel/ towards light. Existence of spirit world/ ghosts- taught spirits sometimes visible (use medians). Reincarnation- people claim can remember previous lives (e.g Taranjit Singh case).
Case against life after death?
Scientific evidence shows when body dies, everything decays.
No one has returned from dead to tell us.
The end of life means exactly that, illogical to speak of life after death.
Life support machines- prove brain dies before body.

A woman has the right to choose.
A child’s quality of life is important.
A mother’s health more important than unborn child.

A form of murder.
Everyone has right to be born and reach full potential.

Roman catholics/ Evangelical christians- life begins at contraception= abortion murder/ sin.
Sanctity life teaching- every human has right to life (even foetus).
Liberal Christians- in some circumstances abortion most loving action. Love important to Jesus.

Allow up to 120 days- Hadith says gets soul at this point.
Always wrong- Qur’an condemns murder.
Acceptable if mother at risk- Shari’ah says mother’s life takes precedence over child’s.
Why do Christians believe in Life after death?
Resurrection of Jesus. Jesus tells Christians will be brought back to life in John 11:25. Jesus teaches he is key to eternal life. St. Paul teaches about life after death and how body transformed from physical to spiritual when raised.
Non- religious arguments in favour of Euthanasia?
Suicide is legal, so why not help someone who can’t do it themselves.
If animal suffering, we have to put it down- most humane thing to do.
Their life- right to end it if want to.
Not fair for relatives to watch loved ones dying painfully.

Drugs can be used for pain control.
Euthanasia is just a fancy word for murder.
Doctor’s have oath to save life, wrong to ask them to kill people.
Medical science may find a cure for them.

Believe God created everything- humans in his image= life is holy (sanctity of life)- only God should end life.

Wrong in every circumstance.
Bible condemns suicide- they follow it literally.

Liberal protestant teachings on Euthanasia?
Jesus said ‘love thy neighbour’- helping someone to die may be the most loving thing to do.
