Matter in Motion Flashcards
an objects change in position to a referance point
Motion
The distance traveled divided by the time interval during which the motion occured
speed
The speed of an object in a particular diraction
velocity
The rate at which velocity changes over time: an object accelerates if it’s speed, direction, or both chnage
acceleration
A push or a pull extend on an object in order to change the motion of the object
force
The SI unit for the force
newton
a push or a pull exerted on an object
net force
a force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are in contact
friction
a force of attraction between objects that is due to their masses
Gravity
a measure of the amount in an object
Mass
A measure of the gravitational force exerted on an object its value can change with the location
Weight
