Matter Can Be Soild Liquid Or Gas Flashcards
A solid can:
Holds its own shape, has a constant volume, molecules are very close together, their always vibrating but never moving
A Liquid can:
Take the shape of its container, have a constant volume, molecules are denser then a solid but still less dense then a gas, molecules are free to slide around past each other
A gas can:
Take the shape AND volume of its container, can be compressed, particles are widely spaced allowing them to move freely, molecules have a large amount of kinetic energy
Plasma can:
Takes whatever shape and volume, has different electrical properties than gases, plasma is very conducive and can form electric fields, plasma is different then gas due to it being a mix of positively and negatively charged ions
The KMT states that:
All matter is made of very small partials, the particles exist in empty space, particles are constantly moving, energy makes particles move
