- We are the only creatures made in the image of God.

How does the genesis account of creation indicate that we are not meant to be solitary creatures?
Man is not meant to be alone, this is shown when God creates a woman out of the man.
Why is the greatest testimony to human dignity the incarnation?
When Jesus came in a human form he restored the dignity of humans that was lost
What is original holiness?
The original state of humans in their relationship with God, sharing in the divine life in full communion with Him.
What does it mean that the creation stories in genesis 1-3 contain symbolic/figurative language? How does it relate to religious truth?
The creation stories in genesis contain symbolic language to help you visualize how the world was made and the importance of each step. It is not meant to be taken literally. So everything in the bible is true, but should not be taken as a literal story.
How does GS define freedom?
Freedom is goodness. Though it allows us to sin and use our freedom for evil, which will lessen our freedom. If we use it for good we will get more freedom. It is the exceptional sign of of the Devine image within man.
According to GS what is the purpose of freedom/what is the right ordered use of freedom?
God has willed man to stay under the control of his own decisions. This means that man has the choice to love God or reject Him. God wants to be chosen, so we will not be forced to love him.
According to GS how is our freedom abused/misused?
Freedom is misused when man uses it for his own pleasure. When he wants to do something he knows is wrong but does it anyway.
What does the creation of man and woman from the beginning tell us about human nature?
Companionship and interpersonal communion between man and woman. Man is a social being.
What has disrupted man from his “proper relationship to his ultimate goal?”
Man refusing to acknowledge God as his beginning, has also disrupted his proper relationship with others and all created things.
What is the law in man that holds him to obedience? It is also the “core and sanctuary” of man.
A conscience - law by God that he does not impose upon himself.
What are the three primary effects of original sin?
- Death and suffering
