Therapeutic: antipyretics, non-opioid analgesics
Pharmacologic: none
Administration:
PO, PR, IV
Side Effects: Hepatic failure, hepatotoxicity, renal failure, neutropenia, pancytopenia, leukopenia, rash, urticaria
Nursing Implications: • Assess overall alcohol usage.
• Assess for OTC usage prior to administration.
• Assess for pain or fever depending upon reason for administration.
• Antidote: N- acetylcysteine (Mucomyst).
Client Teaching: Avoid alcohol with usage.
• Take as prescribed to avoid toxicity.
Action: Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis.
