causal role analysis= if you ask someone what something is they will tell you what it does
Ockham’s razor= cut out the entities that you don’t need and you remain with what you need -> it is more parsimonious to accept that all mental states are certain brain states

Leibniz’s law= if two things are the same, that means that they both have the same properties. if one of them has a property the other one does not have, they are not the same anymore
