  • economic capital is needed to gain cultural capital
  • this means that some students miss out on this which has a negative impact on their educational attainment
  • working class students are more likely to have part time jobs and therefore more likely to work longer hours reducing their chances of attaining higher grades
  • recent educational policies have lead to an increase in tuition fees. this has likely seen an increase in this fear of debt with middle class as well as working class students facing these concerns
