Reed was known for falling into lots of smelly substances or scat.
What caused the slime from the dumpster to explode?
Someone had left a bunsen burner on the smallest bit, and when the slime-like goo hit it, it exploded.

They were going to participate in a series of daring experiences and grand adventures.
