What controls the dimming level of the annunciators (and isn’t the Master Warning Lights?)
The Dimming Control Panel
Dimming Control switch set to NORM
Able to use the MWS rheostat (knob) to adjust annunciator intensity
Dimming Control switch set to DIM OVRD
Bypasses the dimming circuit in case of a failure, sets annunciators to full brilliance
What causes the engine fire detection audible warning, and how can it be silenced?
An engine fire is detected on either engine; the bell can be cancelled by pressing the respective BELL CANCEL button
What causes the landing gear warning horn?
The aircraft is in a state where the gear is in any position other than down and locked, and the flap handle is in the approach or landing position OR gear handle is up on the ground and the start bus is on
What causes the airbrake warning horn?
The aircraft is in a state where the gear is down and locked, both throttled above 60-70% N1, and the airbrakes are not stowed
What causes a horn when the throttles are below 60-70% N1?
The aircraft is in a state where the gear is not down and locked, either throttle is below 60-70% N1, and airspeed is below 150 KIAS
What speeds cause the overspeed horn?
Exceeding 335 KIAS (no fuel in ventral tank), 280 KIAS (fuel in ventral tank), 0.80 Mach
What causes the cabin altitude horn to sound?
Cabin pressure has exceeded 9,300’ ± 300’, or 14,000’ ± 300’ when High Datum mode selected
What causes the Anti-Icing chime to sound?
The TKS timer hits zero
What lights do we have on the Hawker 900XP?
Standard navigation wingtip/tail lights, 2 landing lights, 4 taxi lights, 2 anti collision beacons, 3 strobe lights, 2 wing ice inspection lights, 2 (optional) logo lights
Where are the exterior lighting controls in the cockpit?
Lower left corner of overhead panel
What lighting switches are two position and three position?
BEACON, NAV, STROBE - 2 position
ICE/LOGO - 3 position if logo installed, otherwise 2 position
LANDING/TAXI - 3 position, cannot turn on landing lights without taxi lights turning on
What do our NAV lights being on tell others?
The aircraft is powered (GPU, BAT, APU)
What do our BEACON lights being on tell others?
Engines are running or starting
What do our TAXI lights being on tell others?
Aircraft is moving
What do our LANDING lights tell others?
Aircraft is flying
What does the ARM position of a cabin emergency exit lighting switch do?
The cabin exit sign will automatically be illuminated with loss of PE power
Where is oxygen provided onboard the Hawker?
3 pilots (includes jumpseat), passengers in main cabin, therapeutic oxygen outlets in cabin
What type of oxygen masks are onboard?
Pressure demand for crew, constant flow for passengers
How is oxygen stored?
Standard operation uses two 750-liter oxygen bottles, can accommodate up to four bottles, located in aft equipment bay, filled through a common refill line
Where are the oxygen controls on the Hawker?
Captain side console
What is the green SUPPLY knob?
Opens master supply valve
What is the red PASSENGER SUPPLY EMERGENCY knob?
Controls passenger mask deployment
What is the grey CABIN OXYGEN knob?
Controls passenger oxygen
When does the barometric valve automatically open?
At cabin altitudes of 14,500’ ± 500’ supplying oxygen to passenger masks
What is the first memory item in scenarios involving loss of pressurization, fire, or smoke?
Don your oxygen mask
What are the normal oxygen supply settings for oxygen masks (in the case of the pilots)?
Mix of oxygen and cabin air up to cabin altitude of 30,000’
100% oxygen to 35,000’
100% oxygen with positive pressure above 35,000’
100% oxygen, positive pressure when in the 100% position
What does the 100% oxygen supply setting do for crew oxygen masks?
Provides 100% oxygen at all altitudes
What happens if you turn the oxygen supply knob to EMERGENCY?
Oxygen supplied with positive pressure
What happens if you turn the microphone switch to the OXY/MIC setting?
Oxygen mask microphone selected, on-side speaker activated
How can the startle effect affect your time of useful conciousness?
It may reduce time of useful consciousness by up to half
Time of useful consciousness ______ with altitude
decreases
