Arthritis drugs
Analgesics, NSAIDS, corticosteroids and antirheumatics
Side effects of NSAIDS and analgesics
Diminished pain perception, low blood pressure, bruising, bleeding, dizziness, perspiration.
Side effects of corticosteroids
Swelling, thinned skin, bruising, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, osteopenia.
Diabetes drugs
Insulin, metformin, tresiba, etc.
Side effects of diabetes drugs
Numbness, paresthesia, bruising, muscle pain, abdominal and back pain.
Side effects of uncontrolled diabetes
Fatigue, slow healing, risk of infections, paresthesia in the extremities, hyperglycemia.
Fibromyalgia drugs
Antidepressants, muscle relaxants, anticonvulsants.
Side effects of antidepressants
Dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, altered stretch receptor and temperature perception.
Parkinson’s drugs
Dopaminergics (levodopa, dopa, etc)
Side effects of dopaminergics
Dizziness, drowsiness, disorientation, orthostatic hypotension.
Cardiovascular disease drugs
Beta, sodium channel and calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors, antihypertensives and anticoagulants.
Side effects of cardiovascular drugs
Low blood pressure, bruising, bleeding, swelling in the legs, arrhythmia, cough.
Precaution for arrythmias
Don’t use tapotement.
Drugs which cause orthostatic hypotension
Muscle relaxants, dopaminergics, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, antiarrhythmics, beta and calcium channel blockers.
Orthostatic hypotension
Low blood pressure caused by position.

Antineoplastics and antimitotics
Side effects of antineoplastics
Dehydration, skin sensitivity, nausea, fatigue, peripheral neuropathy.
Precautions for clients with peripheral neuropathy
Avoid working on regions of neuropathy.
Side effects of antimitotics
Digestive paralysis.
Precautions taken for clients with digestive paralysis
Do not massage if constipated or if there if abdominal distension.

Bruising, edema, varicosities, dizziness, rashes, acidosis.
Precaution taken for clients with acidosis
Do not massage during periods of acidosis.
