How did the mass production of the Ford car work?

A
  1. Standardisation- 1 model of car (size and shape). This saved money, storage and time.
  2. Division of labour- Work was split into a series of jobs, with one worker doing the same job over and over again
  3. An assembly line- The job came to the worker this massively decreased the time it took to make a car. 12 hours to 1 hour 33 minutes

Why did the amount of cars in American go from 1 million in 1915 to 28 million 1939?

A

They were cheap. Due to the new method of making cars it meant that the cost to make a car had massively decreased, along with the price.

A

Employment.
1. Factory workers for the assembly lines
2. Mechanics to fix cars
3. Garages
4. Industries that provided raw materials such as rubber, steel and glass.
By 1929 4 million workers depended on there car industry for employment
