Mass production is the manufacturing of a large quantity of standardised products

How did the mass production of the Ford car work?
- Standardisation- 1 model of car (size and shape). This saved money, storage and time.
- Division of labour- Work was split into a series of jobs, with one worker doing the same job over and over again
- An assembly line- The job came to the worker this massively decreased the time it took to make a car. 12 hours to 1 hour 33 minutes
After the success of Ford, what other businesses used mass production?
Radios and fridges
Why did the amount of cars in American go from 1 million in 1915 to 28 million 1939?
They were cheap. Due to the new method of making cars it meant that the cost to make a car had massively decreased, along with the price.
How did mass production help people?
Employment.
1. Factory workers for the assembly lines
2. Mechanics to fix cars
3. Garages
4. Industries that provided raw materials such as rubber, steel and glass.
By 1929 4 million workers depended on there car industry for employment
