Basic human needs
What is safety?
Being protected from pain or haram
What is belonging?
People need to be part of a group; doesn’t feel left out
What is love?
To love and be loved. Cherish and be cherished
What is self-esteem?
To have self worth. It is enhanced when we are recognized by someone
What is self-actualization?
Complete realization of ones potential
Who is Abraham Maslow?
Abraham Maslow was an American psychologist who developed a hierarchy of needs to explain human motivation. His theory suggested that people have a number of basic needs that must be met before people move up the hierarchy to pursue more social, emotional, and self-actualizing needs.
What is the basis of the theory?
Abraham Maslow believed that there was a hierarchy of needs. Some needs have to be addressed before other needs can be addressed. The lower need need to be addressed before the higher needs.
