Blake Mouton Flashcards
Blake Mouton Managerial Grid
Model highlighting different managerial styles.
Impoverished Management
Low results/Low people. Low regard for job completion and interest for employees.
Produce Or Perish Management
High result/ low people. Getting the results at any cost with no regard for the well being of employees
Middle-of-the-Road Management
Medium results/ Medium people. Like driving a car at a moderate speed where you neither excel or fail but maintain a balance between achieving average results and keeping everyone content, resulting in mediocre performance
Country Club Management
Country Club Management is like a friendly, laid-back manager who prioritizes employee happiness but neglects productivity, resulting in a fun but unproductive work environment, similar to a country club where people have a great time but don’t accomplish much.
Team Management
High Production/High People. Team management is like being a coach who is not only passionate about winning but also cares about the well-being of their players, respects and empowers them, and is committed to achieving goals together.
Paternalistic Management
Paternalistic management is like a parent who is both supportive and protective, but doesn’t like it when someone challenges their authority or decisions, falling between the lenient “Country Club” and strict “Produce-or-Perish” management styles.
Opportunistic Management
Opportunistic management is like a selfish boss who prioritizes their own interests over the well-being of the company, often manipulating and taking advantage of others to benefit themselves.
