hierarchy (n)
a system in which people or things are arranged according to their importance:
Some monkeys have a very complex social hierarchy.
depict (v)
to represent or show something in a picture or story:
Her paintings depict the lives of ordinary people in the last century.
esteem (n)
respect for or a good opinion of someone:
There has been a drop in public esteem for teachers.
salient (a)
The salient facts about something or qualities of something are the most important things about them:
She began to summarize the salient features/points of the proposal.
stem (v)
to stop something unwanted from spreading or increasing:
These measures are designed to stem the rise of violent crime.

desire (v)
to want something, especially strongly:
I desire only to be left in peace.
(n) a strong feeling that you want something:
I certainly have no desire to have children.
actualize (v)
to make something that could possibly happen or be achieved really happen or be achieved:
the techniques that athletes use to actualize their potential
capable (a)
able to do things effectively and skilfully, and to achieve results:
She’s a very capable woman/worker/judge.
unidirectional (a)
operating or moving in one direction only
shelter (n)
something that gives protection, such as a building or tent, or the protection provided:

curiosity (n)
an eager wish to know or learn about something:
to arouse/excite/satisfy someone’s curiosity
predictability (n)
the state of knowing what something is like, when something will happen, etc.:
Although her job is boring and monotonous, she likes the sense of predictability and security that it gives her.
merely (adv)
used to emphasize that you mean exactly what you are saying and nothing more:
I wasn’t complaining, I merely said that I was tired.
to be prone to (vp)
likely to do, get, or suffer from something:
As a child, he was prone to ear infections.
obtain (v)
to get something, especially by asking for it, buying it, working for it, or producing it from something else:
to obtain permission
