How did her marriage to Darnley discredit her?

A

1566- Rizzio (man who Mary spent lots of time with due to Darnley’s terrible attitude) was murdered

Q

How did the threat of MQS subside in the mid 1570s?

A

No external help from France or Spain

No threat from Mary’s supporters in Scotland as the King’s Lords were victorious in the power struggle

Housed in the northern midlands (e.g. Hardwick Hall, Bolton Castle, Sheffield Castle). Away from London or coastlines so threat minimised

Even allowed to take the waters at Buxton and her niece Arbella was allowed to visit
