- Critical of Parsons and claims the modern nuclear family mainly benefits capitalism at the expense of others
- Sees the socialisation of children (future workers) directed into capitalist ideology
- Critical of Parsons “stabilisation of adult personalities” and argues that the role of the family is really to help workers manage their hatred of Capitalism
- He believes the family holds back change, as people with a family (having people that depend on them) are unlikely to engage in actions that may threaten their family or standard of living (rebellion)
- He argues the nuclear family is a major unit of consumption so is an essential component of capitalism
