Critique of spatial science:
A
- BY 1960s, SS was no longer fit for purpose.
- SS had become too abstract and detached from the complexities and realities of the real world; it had become trapped in a modelling mentality.
- one-dimensional and reductive understanding of human behaviour as ration decision-makers.
- SS largely failed in the objective it has set itself - ultimately just a set of technical and analytical tools.
- appeared irrelevant - didn’t have anything to say about important issues, e.g., inequality and injustice.
