How did Marxists see capitalism?
It is criminogenic in its nature, crime is inevitable due to greed, material deprivation, and frustration caused by inequality
What is white collar crime?
Where someone of middle or upper class abuses their occupational role of power. Companies often protect their own interest and so hide their crimes
How does neo Marxism differ from Marxism?
They believe that people have free will and are not the subject of brainwashing and resulting false class consciousness
What is new criminology?
The poor commit crimes as a form of protest against injustice, exploitation, and alienation. it is deliberate and meaningful e.g. riots and vandalism
What is the evaluation for new criminology?
Lower class crime is often petty theft against lower class people, what does this protest?????
What is the ‘full social’ theory and who’s theory is it?
Stuart Hall. Black muggers was used to create moral panic and distract from he current political problems and further created a deviancy amplication spiral as a result
