Marxism Flashcards
Marx objected to the harmony of interests as advocated by liberals
he saw inherent conflicts between the different classes.
Marx believed the conflict between the proletariat and bourgeoisie could only be resolved by
the proletariat seizing power
marx believed that free trade policies, as advocated by Adam Smith and Ricardo
only served the dominant class and resulted in the exploitation of the proletariat- there was no even distribution of gains.
Marx rejected the realist and liberal assumptions of
the neutrality of the state because he believed it only existed to serve the bourgeoisie.
liberals view capitalism and free trade as a way of achiving mutual benefit for states and encouraging cooperation, whereas marxists denounce it
as a cause of war
like realists, marxists view international system
in terms of zero-sum interactions
like realists, marxists view the gains from trade
to be unevenly distributed.
