Explain the three main views of Marx? (OIA)
Opium of people - Religion dulls the ache of exploitation but doesn’t solve the problem.
Ideology - A set of ideas (lies) that justify the ruling class keeping the rich, rich and the pour, pour.
Alienation - When an individual or a group feels isolated from society because of lack of control over their own lives.
Explain Gramsci’s two main views? (H,N-M)
Hegemony - This is the way that the ruling class are able to use ideas such as religion to maintain control is society.
Neo-Marxism - Religion can be a force of social change, it can be used to start a revolution.
What is Engels main viewpoint? (D-C)
Duel Character - Although religion prevents change by disguising inequality, it can also challenge the a ‘Status Quo’ and encourage social change.
