The nuclear family is as a unit of consumption for the bourgeoisie/ it enforces hierarchy/creates class inequality.

Families teach the next generation to submit and obey the upper class.

The family is an illusion, pretending to be a haven/a place away from capitalism but it isn’t
What are two criticisms of the Marxist perspective?
It ignores family diversity and assumes that the nuclear family is still the dominant family type.

Maintains Capitalism/reproduces future workers/consumes products of Capitalism/socialises children into capitalist society
What is the inheritance of property function?
Where the wealthy men of the family use the family unit to pass down their property onto their paternal children
