Marx’s prediction
Revolution!
The workers will grow tired of their oppression and revolt against the capitalist
Feudalism to capitalism to socialism to communism
Labor power
What the wage worker sells to the capitalist
Life activity
What a worker sells to obtain his means of sustenance, enables him to exist.
What does Marx think about “what is good for capital is good for the workers”? (Trickle down economics)
No, just no. It just hands more resources and power to those who already own the means of production. They will abuse there power and take advantage of the wage workers for the sake of profit and greed.
Commodity
Marx saw the capitalist as treating the workers as machines rather than people. Machines can easily be replaced as automation is increased.
A commodity is any good or service product or activity produced by human labor and offered as a product for General sale on the market
Minimum wage
Wages that only cover the basic needs
Social relations
Workers work to survive. Life begins after work. Their essence cannot be represented through work. They have no autonomy.
How are the workers alienated?
loss of creative capacity in the job. doesn’t own the product of the labor. Alienated from self. Uses subsistence for immediate consumption.
