Humanists believe that sex & marriage are matters for inviduals decisions. It is up to them whether they live together without marrying

Protestant attitude: believe homosexuality is a sin & that there should be no homosexual christians

-Believe that the salvation of christ can remove all sins
Liberal atttitude: Lifelong homosexual relationships are acceptable & they are welcomed
-They feel that the major christain belief in love & acceptance means that homosexuals must be accepted

christain marriage is to have chlidren bring them up ina secure & loving christain enviroment
-Family is the place where children are introduced to the baptism
-Family has a duty of instilling moral values
-Children have a duty to look after their parents

Some christains beleive that the purpose of the family is to provide love & security, make sure children are educated
-Other christians believe it is not the duty of children to obey their parents. A christian family should encourage children to develop their own ideas

- Raising children means taking them to church
- Teaching children about chirstainity requires knwoledge & expertise
- Christains believe in the power of prayer
Humanists & atheist attitude to contarception
They are in favour of contraception cause they assess the rights & wrongs of birth control by looking at its consequences. They argue that contraception prevents unwanted children from being born , improves material & emotional standard of living in families & prevents stds
Christains responses to non-religious attitudes to contraception?
Protestant & orthodox agree with the non-religious attitudes to contraception,it is only roman catholic church which has repsonded to them
Catholic attitude to divorce?
Do not allow religious religious divorce or re-marriage catholic marriage is a sacrament. But do allow for the legal seperationof spouses
They have this attitude because jesus taught that divorce is wrong & christains should follow the teaching sof jesus

They think divorce is wrong but allow is marriage has broken dow. *Jesus allowed divorce in Matthew
-They beleive that there are certain situations where christains must choose the lesser of two evils if the marriage has really broken down than th effects of the couple not divorcing would be greater evil than evil of divorce itself.
Humanists & atheist attitudes to divorce & marriage
Atheists do not believe in divorce so they regard marriage as a purely human & legal institution. Some atheist do not believe in marriage & could cohabit.

- Evangelical protestant teacht that men & women have seperate & different roles. It is the role of women to bring up children & run a christain home. It is the role of men to provide the family & lead the family in religion.
- Liberal protestant accept that men & women are equal & should have equal roles in life & the family
- Catholic teaches that mean & women should have equal roles

Christain teachings?
Evangelical protestant teach that men & women have seperate & different roles & so cannot have equal rights , also beleive that women should not speak in church, role of men to provide for the family & to lead it.
- Catholic church: They are against prejudice & discrimiantion cause it teaches that men & women should have equal rights.
- Liberal protestant: They beleive not only that men & women should have equal roles in the family btu also that they should have totally equal rights
