Refers to the intermediary in marketing distribution channel between the producer/manufacturer and the end consumer.

A marketing channel consists of firms that have banded together for their common good. Each channel member depends on the others
Channel Behaviour
Which is more common, refers to conflicts between different levels of the same channel
Vertical Conflict
Conflict between firms at the same level of the channel
Horizontal conflict
one in which the main members of a distribution channel—producer, wholesaler, and retailer—work together as a unified group in order to meet consumer needs
vertical marketing system
which two or more companies at one level join together to follow a new marketing opportunity.
Horizontal Marketing system,
The cutting out of marketing channel intermediaries by producers or the displacement of traditional reseller by new intermediatries
