What is a word scale?

A

Uses a statement in words to describe the scale of the map
E.g. one centimeter on the map represents 50km in reality

What is a line/linear scale?

A

Shows distance on the map compared to distance in reality.
It is usually marked in equal sections

What is a ratio scale?

A

1: 50 000
(One centimeter on the map represents 50 000cm in reality)
50 000cm = 0,5km
1cm = 0,5 km

How to work out true bearing?

A

. Draw a line between the two places
. Measure from the place the question says FROM
. Place protactor with 0° on North
. Read clockwise
. If more than 180° when read clockwise:
Flip but add 180°
