Boards are man-made to specific dimensions using cheap timber, chips and offcuts

A
Is processed into chips
Particles are mixed with an adhesive
The mixture id compressed into shape
Boards are trimmed to standard sizes

Examples of manufactured boards and their properties?
A
- Mdf- dense, smooth and cheap but heavy
- Chipboard- flat, stiff and cheap but poor resistance to moisture
- Plywood- good strentgh and poor resistance to moisture
