MANUALS Flashcards
notification to owners and operators of certified aircraft that a known safety deficiency with a particular model of aircraft, engine, avionics or other system exists and must be corrected.
airworthiness directive
responsible for ensuring compliance with the requirements of all ADs that apply to their aircraft.
aircraft owners and operators
Anyone who operates a product that does not meet the requirements of an applicable AD is in violation of
14 CFR 39.7
three types of airworthiness directives
notice of proposed rule making, final rule; request form comments, emergency ads
Is a public notice that is issued by law when an independent agency of the US government wishes to add, remove, or change a rule or regulation as part of the rulemaking process.
notice of proposed rule making
rule that the FAA issues in final with an effective date that invites public comment on the rule.
final rule request form comments
issued when an unsafe condition exists that requires immediate action by an owner/operator.
emergency ads
periodic inspections that have to be done on all commercial and civil aircraft after a certain amount of time or usage
aircraft maintenance checks
different types of maintenance checks
AIRCRAFT A – CHECK MAINTENANCE
AIRCRAFT B - CHECK MAINTENANCE
AIRCRAFT C-CHECK MAINTENANCE
AIRCRAFT D –CHECK MAINTENANCE
100 HOUR INSPECTION
This is performed approximately every 400-600 flight hours or 200-300 cycle (take off and landing is considered an aircraft cycle)
aircraft a-check
how many man hours and how long during a-check
150 - 180 man hours, minimum of 10 hours
This is performed approximately every 6 to 8 months
aircraft b-check
how many man hours and how long during b-check
160-180 man hours, 1-3 days
This is performed approximately every 20-24 months or a specific amount of actual Flight Hours (FH) or as defined by the manufacturer
aircraft c-check
how many man hours and how long during c-check
6,000 man hours, 1-2 weeks
This is by far the most comprehensive and demanding check for an airplane which is also known as Heavy Maintenance Visit (HMV)
aircraft d-check
how many man hours and how long during d-check
50,000 man hours, 2 months
This check occurs approximately every 6-10years.
d-check
All aircraft under 12,500 pounds (except turbojet/turbo propeller-powered multi-engine airplanes and turbine powered rotorcraft), used to carry passengers for hire (commercial operation: passenger carrying, cargo), must have received this within the preceding 100 hours of time in service.
100 hour inspection
independent battery powered transmitter that activated by the excessive G-Forces Experience during crash. It transmits a digital every 50 seconds on a frequency.
emergency locator transmitter
Emergency Locator Transmitter required to be installed in aircraft according to?
FAR 91.207.
Emergency Locator Transmitter must be inspected within
12 months of previous inspection for proper installation, battery corrosion, operation of the controls and crash sensor, and the presence of a sufficient signal antennas
where is ELT typically installed
aft in the fuselage of an aircraft as is practicable just forward of the empennage. The built in G-Force sensor is aligned with the longitudinal axis of aircraft
list established for a particular aircraft type by the organization responsible for the type design with the approval of the state design which identifies items that are unserviceable at the commencement of a flight
master minimum equipment list
aircraft evaluation groups method of relaying which items are more critical than others by their inclusion or exclusion
master minimum equipment list
14 CFR $91. 23 (d) allows certain operators to fly an aircraft with inoperative instruments or equipment
inoperative equipment
manual that provides guidance on the safe operation of the aircraft by stating the operational and maintenance procedure to be observed in case of inoperative systems and/or component
minimum equipment list
prepared by the operator and approved by the local aviation authority
minimum equipment list
list of equipment and instruments that may be inoperative on a particular make and model of aircraft
