Q

TCAS RA except climb in landing configuration

A

PF - If manoeuvring is required, disengage the autopilot and autothrottle. Smoothly adjust pitch and thrust to satisfy the RA command. Follow the planned lateral flight path unless visual contact with the conflicting traffic requires other action.

Both - Attempt to establish visual contact. Call out any conflicting traffic.

GPWS warning

A

“PULL UP”, ‘OBSTACLE PULL UP’ or “TERRAIN TERRAIN PULL UP”

PF
- Disconnect AP + AT
- Aggressively apply maximum thrust
- Simultaneously wings level and pitch 20degs
- Verify speedbrakes retracted
- If terrain remains a threat, continue rotation up to the pitch limit indicator or stick shaker or initial buffet.

  • Do not change gear or flap config until terrain separation is assured.
  • Monitor RA for sustained or increasing separation of terrain.
  • When clear of terrain, slowly decrease pitch attitude and accelerate.

PM
- Assure maximum thrust applied
- Verify all required actions have been completed and call it any omissions.

  • Monitor VS and ALT baro and RA
  • Call out any trend towards terrain contact.

Windshear Warning

A

“WINDSHEAR, WINDSHEAR, WINDSHEAR”

PF

Manual Flight
- Disconnect AP
- Push either TO/GA switch
- Aggressively apply maximum thrust
- Disconnect AT
- Simultaneously wings level pitch 15 degrees
- Verify speedbrakes retracted
- Follow FD TO/GA guidance if avail

Automatic Flight
- Push either TO/GA switch
- Verify TO/GA mode annunciation
- Verify GA thrust
- Verify speedbrakes retracted
- Monitor system performance

Manual or Automatic Flight
- Do not change gear and flap config until windshear is no longer a threat
- Monitor VS and ALT
- Do not attempt to regain lost airspeed till windshear is no longer a factor.

PM
- Verify max/GA thrust
- Verify all required actions have been completed and call out any omissions.
- Monitor VS and ALT
- Call out any trend towards terrain contact, descending flight path or significant airspeed changes

Q

RTO

A

Captain

Without Delay
“STOP”
Simultaneously close the thrust levers, disengage the autothrottles, and apply max manual wheel brakes or verify operation of RTO Autobrake.

If RTO Autobrake is selected, monitor system performance and apply manual wheel brakes if the AUTOBRAKE message is displayed or decel is not adequate.

Apply reverse thrust up to the maximum amount consistent with the conditions.

Verify speedbrakes are extended.

Continue max braking until certain the aircraft can stop on the runway.

FO

verify actions as follows
Thrust levers close
AT disengaged
Max brakes applied
Reverse thrust applied
Verify speedbrake leaver UP and call “SPEEDBRAKES UP” or “SPEEDBRAKES NOT UP” if they aren’t.
When both REV indications are green call “REVERSERS NORMAL” or “NO REVERSER LEFT/RIGHT ENGINE” or “NO REVERSERS”

Call out any omitted action items

Q

Upset recovery High Nose

A

Recognise and confirm the developing situation.

Disengage AP + AT

Recover:
- Apply nose down elevator, as much as needed to obtain a nose down pitch rate.
- Apply appropriate nose down stab trim. (Note: Excessive trim or rudder can aggravate the upset.)
- Reduce thrust.
- Adjust bank angle to obtain a nose down pitch.

Complete the recovery:
- When approaching horizon roll to wings level.
- Check the airspeed and adjust thrust.
- Establish a pitch attitude.

Q

Upset recovery Low Nose

A

Recognise and confirm the developing situation.

Disengage AP + AT

Recover:
- Recover from stall, if needed.
- Roll the shortest direction to wings level. If bank angle is more than 90 degrees, unload and roll.

Complete the recovery:
- Apply nose up elevator.
- Apply nose up trim, if needed.
- Adjust thrust and drag, if needed.

Q

Approach to Stall or Stall Recovery

A

PF:
Initiate recovery
- Smoothly apply nose down elevator to reduce the angle of attack until buffet or stick shaker stops.

Continue the recovery
- Roll in the shortest direction to wings level if needed.
- Advance the thrust levers as needed.
- Retract the speedbrakes.
- Do not change config unless during liftoff flaps are up, call for flaps 1.

Complete the recovery
- Check airspeed and adjust thrust as needed.
- Establish pitch attitude.
- return to the desired flight path.
- Re-engage the AP and AT if desired.

PM:
Monitor altitude and airspeed
Verify all actions complete and call out omissions
Call out any trend towards terrain contact.

Q

TCAS RA in landing configuration

A

PF

Disengage the autopilot and autothrottle. Advance thrust levers forward to ensure maximum thrust is attained and call for FLAPS 20.
Smoothly adjust pitch to satisfy the RA command. Follow the planned lateral
flight path unless visual contact with the conflicting traffic requires other action.

PM
Verify max thrust is set, move flap lever to flaps 20.
Verify positive rate and call

PF - gear up
PM - select gear up
