Manners Flashcards
I work together with my family.
Sometimes I feel lazy,
Or I would rather hunt a daisy.
But I know in the end,
That my family is my friend.
So we all work hard together,
And it makes work like a feather.
I move my body to be healthy.
I can feel a little lazy,
Not at all stir-crazy.
But I know to feel my best
I should still sit less.
Moving makes my body strong;
I should do it all day long.
It makes me feel safe to hold an adult’s hand.
When I’m out on the town
And I’m feeling kind of down,
I can hold my grown-up’s hand
And feel safe to walk and stand.
I stay calm even when I’m upset.
I feel my face get hot
As my anger grows a lot.
I did not get my way;
I did not get a say.
But this is all OK.
Even when I’m mad
Or my heart is feeling sad,
I can use my words to share
And my parents will always care.
I can do hard things.
Doing big, hard things
Makes me grow stronger.
And when I look back later on,
I won’t be scared any longer.
I am gentle with small things.
When I touch, I must remember
Small things can break.
So I always use my gentle touch
For the small thing’s sake.
I share with others.
I want to keep toys to myself
And never really share.
But when I let others play,
They can see how much I care!
I help protect God’s world.
God’s world is big and round and green
And filled with beautiful light.
But when I see trash on the ground,
I’m so sad at the sight.
I give more than I take.
I love cookies, cake, and candy.
I want more of these.
I want to keep them for myself
And hide them so no one sees.
But I know better and can share.
Preferring others shows I care.
I can be quiet when asked.
My loud voice can boom off the walls
And echo through the house.
But sometimes I need a voice that’s small,
Just like a little mouse.
I am an important part of my family.
God picked my Mom and my Dad;
He gave us all a role.
He chose me rightly, just for them,
So their hearts would be whole.
I dress for the weather.
Is it hot? Is it cold?
Sometimes I don’t care.
But when I go to play outside,
I must take care with what I wear.
I love to help around the house.
My house can be a pigpen:
Yucky, strewn, and dusty.
And when I’m asked to clean it,
I can feel all rusty.
But then I remember that my home
Is a gift for me,
So I do as I’m asked with a happy heart,
And the house is nice to see.
I can put on my clothes.
My shirt goes up top.
My bottoms down below.
One shoe at a time.
Then I’m ready to go!
I listen when spoken to.
When I’m playing, when I’m busy,
I hate to stop and think.
I’d rather keep on playing.
Stopping sure does stink.
But I have to listen closely
To what others say
So I can honor Mom and Dad
And listen and obey.
I have fun with my family!
Family is the best;
They’re who I love to see.
We have so much fun,
And they sure do treasure me.
I can make do with what I have
Shiny and new, sparkly and bright
The things that I see, I dream of at night.
But I have good things already,
I don’t need something new.
I can use what I have in fresh ways
And do a great job at making do.
I am thankful for all I have.
It’s time to count our blessings,
I’m sure you like to know,
That I have so many gifts,
I can count them in a row.
Here are the top three,
that are so special to me:
1.
2.
3.
I brush my teeth well.
Stinky breath,
Yucky teeth,
Cavity-bugs
Underneath.
Brush first thing,
And last thing too.
Brush your teeth,
Zippity-do.
I greet people when I meet them.
Hi,
Hello,
How do you do?
It can be hard
To say hello, too.
But if Mom and Dad say
It’s safe to say,
Then I can greet others
Along the way.
I chew small bites of food.
Giant bites,
Crunching teeth,
Crumbs go everywhere,
Underneath.
Take small bites,
Chew them well,
Now you’re doing
Really swell.
I play loud games outside.
Boom.
Crash.
Zip.
Zonk.
I hear a game
Of zippity-konk.
Zippity-konk
Is played outside.
Now it’s your turn,
Run and hide!
I help with chores.
Toys on the floor.
Clothes under the bed.
I can clean up myself;
My mom always said.
It’s not so fun to clean.
It’s more fun to strew it out.
But I’m a big kid now;
I will help without a pout.
I can sit still and listen.
I keep a tidy room.
I honor my father and mother.
I am tidy and neat.
I do my chores.
I am kind to my siblings.
I return what I borrow.
I am thankful for my home.
