Manners Flashcards
I work together with my family.
Sometimes I feel lazy,
Or I would rather hunt a daisy.
But I know in the end,
That my family is my friend.
So we all work hard together,
And it makes work like a feather.
I move my body to be healthy.
I can feel a little lazy,
Not at all stir-crazy.
But I know to feel my best
I should still sit less.
Moving makes my body strong;
I should do it all day long.
It makes me feel safe to hold an adult’s hand.
When I’m out on the town
And I’m feeling kind of down,
I can hold my grown-up’s hand
And feel safe to walk and stand.
I stay calm even when I’m upset.
I feel my face get hot
As my anger grows a lot.
I did not get my way;
I did not get a say.
But this is all OK.
Even when I’m mad
Or my heart is feeling sad,
I can use my words to share
And my parents will always care.
I can do hard things.
Doing big, hard things
Makes me grow stronger.
And when I look back later on,
I won’t be scared any longer.
I am gentle with small things.
When I touch, I must remember
Small things can break.
So I always use my gentle touch
For the small thing’s sake.
I share with others.
I want to keep toys to myself
And never really share.
But when I let others play,
They can see how much I care!
I help protect God’s world.
God’s world is big and round and green
And filled with beautiful light.
But when I see trash on the ground,
I’m so sad at the sight.
I give more than I take.
I love cookies, cake, and candy.
I want more of these.
I want to keep them for myself
And hide them so no one sees.
But I know better and can share.
Preferring others shows I care.
I can be quiet when asked.
My loud voice can boom off the walls
And echo through the house.
But sometimes I need a voice that’s small,
Just like a little mouse.
I am an important part of my family.
God picked my Mom and my Dad;
He gave us all a role.
He chose me rightly, just for them,
So their hearts would be whole.
I dress for the weather.
Is it hot? Is it cold?
Sometimes I don’t care.
But when I go to play outside,
I must take care with what I wear.
I love to help around the house.
My house can be a pigpen:
Yucky, strewn, and dusty.
And when I’m asked to clean it,
I can feel all rusty.
But then I remember that my home
Is a gift for me,
So I do as I’m asked with a happy heart,
And the house is nice to see.
I can put on my clothes.
My shirt goes up top.
My bottoms down below.
One shoe at a time.
Then I’m ready to go!
I listen when spoken to.
When I’m playing, when I’m busy,
I hate to stop and think.
I’d rather keep on playing.
Stopping sure does stink.
But I have to listen closely
To what others say
So I can honor Mom and Dad
And listen and obey.
