What is a linking verb?

A

A linking verb makes an assertion by joining two words.
feel, become, remain, taste, seem, appear, look, sound, stay, smell, grow
(and then there’s the to be verbs)
am, are, is, was, were, be, being, been
(Those are helping and linking. They express a state of being. Linking verbs.)
