Maneuvers Flashcards
Climb to cruise
200 ft prior to level-off altitude, begin lowering the nose toward the level flight attitude
Trim for acceleration
5 knots prior to desired cruise speed:
Power- smoothly reduce to normal cruise, 54% (fast cruise, 80%)
Attitude- set level flight picture
Trim- remove pressure and coordinate
Lowering the nose to the level flight attitude immediately instead of TOWARDS the level flight attitude. Remember the airspeed is still slow.
Not trimming during the transition
Cruise to descent
Power- smoothly reduce to 20
Attitude- 5 nose low; clearing turns
Trim- power reduction; relieve pressures
Descent to cruise
100 ft prior, simultaneously:
Power- ~54/~80
Attitude- nose level
Trim- power addition; pressure
Cruise to climb
Power- smoothly to max
Attitude- 12-15 nose high (slightly above 180)
Trim- power addition; pressure
As speed approaches 180 go to 8 degrees nose high
Power on turning stall

Slip
Simulate slip to HK at 125, clean May use 120, gear down Lower wing, apply top rudder Remain below 150 if full rudder used At least 2000 fpm descent
Outlying field entry
Determine duty runway
Initial point:
- on extended runway centerline and on runway heading
- wings level
- break altitude (1400/1300/1200)
- 200 kias
Radio call
Maintain altitude, airspeed, traffic pattern, and airspeed
The break
Proper interval Execute break Clear in direction of turn 45-60 aob, idle-10%, extend speed break, maintain altitude, trim "Below 150, Gear", "Clear" 3/4-1 wtd half way through turn to DW Slow to 120, trim Descend to pattern altitude at 120 Flaps as req Power: 31/42/52 Attitude : 4/3/1 Trim Before landing checklist
