Managing Project Week 11: Schedule 2 Flashcards

1
Q

What processes do time management include?

A
  1. Plan schedule management
  2. Define activities
  3. Sequence activities

Q

What is critical path method? And why critical path method is important and useful in schedule management?

A

The critical path method uses an activity logic table with estimated time duration, it can be turned into a network diagram (aka logic network)

Why critical path method?
1. It identifies all the tasks needed to complete the project, 2. helps estimate the project duration accurately
3. identify critical activities that must be completed on time
4. Highlight task dependencies, resource constraints and potential risks

3
Q

Process of identifying and documenting the
specific actions to be performed to produce the project deliverables?

A

Define activities, the activities and deliverables are outlined in the WBS

Outputs: Activity list, activity attributes, milestone list, change requests, project management plan updates

Q

What are the two types of schedule a WBS can be used to create?

A
  1. Gantt Chart (High level)
  2. Network Diagram (details/low level)

Q

Process of establishing the policies, procedures, and documentation for planning, developing, managing,
executing and controlling the project schedule

A

Plan Schedule management

Method: Scheduling software (e.g. Office Project Professional), or

Primavera P6 Professional projext management for construction project

Output: Schedule management plan

Q

What is the difference between predecessor and successor in project?

A

Project creates a simple finish-to-start task link by default, which means the first task (the predecessor) needs to finish before the second task (the successor) can start.

8
Q

Process of estimating the number of work periods needed to complete individual activities with the estimated
resources

A

Estimate Resource Requirements and Activity Durations

in the first instance, the duration should be based on conventional (normal) resource availability

milestone activities are used to mark key deliverables or project stages and are given a zero duration

Outputs: Duration estimates, basis of estimates

Q

process of analysing activity sequences, durations, resource requirements, and schedule constraints to create the
project schedule model for project execution, monitoring and controlling

A

Develop and Control Schedule

Common form of project schedule analysis: critical path method (CPM)

Common method of project schedule presentation is a bar (Gantt) Chart
