What is the object of the Act?
The object of the act is the responsible and safe sale, supply and consumption of alcohol and to minimise the harm caused by excessive or inappropriate sale and consumption
What type of licence do your premises have and what does this mean?
Sumner Social has an on-license meaning that we can serve alcohol but it can only be consuming in our property
What is the designation of your premises and who does this allow on site?
Undesignated people of any age may be present

When you are the Duty Manager what sign must be displayed and where must it be?
Your name needs to be displayed on a sign prominently where everyone can see
Who are prohibited people and who can be fined for serving them?
Anyone who is intoxicated must be refused service and removed from premises
Anyone under the age of 18 must be refused service
What is on your host responsibility policy and what is the reason for having one?
The reason for having one is to reduce the abuse of alcohol and create a safe environment
- Prevents intoxication.
- Does not serve alcohol to minors.
- Provides and actively promotes low-alcohol and non-alcoholic alternatives.
- Provides and actively promotes substantial food.
- Serves alcohol responsibly or not at all.
- Arranges safe transport options.
What are your responsibilities as a Duty Manager?

- to have my name displayed prominently on the wall
- to reduce alcohol-related harm
Have you had to refuse service to someone, how did you handle the situation?
A group of boys came in already holding open drinks and clearly intoxicated calmly asked them to throw out the bottles and leave the premises
