mother has been commenced on Magnesium sulphate for treatment of severe pre-eclampsia
pre CTG baseline 130 bpm and baseline variability was normal

A
this CTG has a
- baseline FHR of 125 bpm
-no accelerations
- no decelerations
- No uterine activity is recorded

Interpretation
A
- the presence of normal baseline variability prior
- a stable baseline rate
an absence of deceleration
suggests the fetus is well oxygenated
in the context of the clinical picture the absent variability and lack of accelerations are caused by the maternal medications
the fetus was noted to be moving on the palpation

Management
A
Continue the CTG
although fetal wellbeing is assured at this time
the CTG is abnormal and requires escalation and continued close observation
