1. continuous CTG to assess fetal well being
2. consideration given to reducing or ceasing the oxytocin infusion, where being used
3. maternity staff remaining with the woman until normal uterine activity is resumed
4. notifying senior clinicians
5. consideration given to the use of tocolysis

please note tachysytole or uterine hyperonus is not in itself an indication for tocolysis
