nonCNS depressant, does not cause sedations, has no abuse potential, does not intensify the effects of CNS depressant, anxiolytic effects develop slowly

well absorbed following oral administration
buspirone (BuSpar) adverse effects
dizzy, nausea, headache, nervousness, light headaches, excitement
levels of buspirone (BuSpar) will be greatly increased if taken with
erythromycin, ketoconazole, or grapefruit juice
antidepressants
venladaxine (efexor XR), paroxetine (Paxil) ; short and long term - esciatlopram (lexapro)
panic disorders
palpitations, pounding heart, racing heartbeat; chest pain or discomfort; sensation of SOB; feeling of choking; dizzines/light headedness; nausea or abdominal discomfort; derealization or depersonalization; fear of losing control; fear of dying; tingling or numbness in the hands; flushes or chills
treatment of panic disorder
drug therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
antidepressants
selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors; tricyclic antidepressants; monoamine oxidase inhibitors
