They are usually around 3-5 years, long-term in nature and are based on explicit assessments of the competitive strengths and weakness of the organization.

The main output of strategic planning.

Pertain to activities in specific departments of an organization.
OPERATIONAL PLANS
Outlines the organization’s future role and functions.

Outlines the purpose of the agency
ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION
Describes the vision of an organization and explains beliefs and gives direction to how the mission or purpose is achieved.
ORGANIZATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Broad statements of intent
Goals
Specific behavior or tasks set for the accomplishment of a goal.
Objectives
A written plan stating how the organization will function and work together
POLICIES
Policies that are never written in any employee manual
Implied policies
Published to guide the employees and also to have a basic understanding of the company’s rules
Expressed policies
Methods and direction on how the policy will be implemented.
PROCEDURES
Plans that specifically define acceptable choices of action.

A planned sequence and combination of activities
