Mammo Flashcards
What are the effects of compression?
- Decreased thickness–> less scatter and lower dose needed
- less motion artifact
- Better spatial resolution (less magnification)
- Better Contrast (lower kVP and less scatter)
What is the bucky factor for contact mammo?
2 for Mammo
5 for general radiographs
How is magnification view different from contact view?
- Smaller focal spot
- Lower mA
- Longer exposure time
- Air Gap= No grid needed
- Higher Dose (Breast closer to source)
What is PPV 1, 2, and 3?
- PPV 1: Positive for Cancer on a positive screener (4%)
- PPV 2: Positive for Cancer with Biopsy recommended (25%)
- PPV 3: Positive for Cancer with Biopsy performed (31%)
What should be tested for Daily in Mammo?
-Process QC
-Dark Room Cleanliness
“PD comes to work Daily”
What should be tested for Weekly in Mammo?
-Viewbox conditions
-Phantom Evaluation
“VP comes to work Weekly”
What should be tested for quarterly in Mammo?
-Repeat Analysis
RQ (Ricu)
What should be tested for Semi-Annually in Mammo?
- Compression Test
- Dark Room Fog
- Screen Film Contrast
CDS visits semi annually
What spatial resolution is required from mammo?
Approximately 11-13 lp/mm in the phantom
What is the breast phantom?
4.2 cm of 50% Glandular/50%fatty tissue
What is the dose limit of the phantom?
3 mGy with a Grid
1 mGy without a grid
