Making Every Flight Safe Flashcards
What is necessary pre-flight?
- Check all updates have been applied
- Check that you have enough battery for your flight
Weather?
Do not fly if it could affect your flight
Unforeseen circumstances
If a group of animals or people turn up in your flying location you should stop flying
- Never fly in an area where the emergency services are responding to an incident
What happens if an incident occurs during your flight?
- You should report any near misses or anything dangerous that’s happened to the CAA
- If you crash or are forced to land in any sensitive sites then you should address this with the site owner to avoid any forceful action/defence from them
- If you see anybody using a drone in a dangerous or suspicious way, make sure you report it
Earning money and insurance?
If you want to use your drone for recreational use, you can choose whether you get insurance but you might want to to protect yourself if something goes wrong.
If you’re earning money (commercial use) then you are obliged to get insurance
You need to get permission from the CAA for any money making of any kind
Photos and Video
- Observe common sense when taking video, this means respect people’s privacy
- You need to let people know if you’re going to photograph them
- Always make it clear that you are the one flying the drone if people are around
- If you are abiding by commercial drone laws, you will have to consider GDPR laws and also keep photos and data secure
