- Receive food by ingestion
Esophagus
Muscular tube that connects the throat to the stomach
Stomach
Organ with strong muscular walls, holds the food and mixes it with acid and enzymes that break food into liquid/paste
Small Intestine
Helps further digest food coming from the stomach. Absorbs nutrients- vitamins, carbohydrates, protein, fats & water so it can be used in the body
Large Intestine
Long tube-like organ that is connected to the small intestine at one end, & the anus at the other
Rectum

Anus
The last part of the digestive tract. Consists of pelvic floor muscles and two internal & external anal sphincters.
Salivary Glands
Produce saliva and empty it into your mouth through ducts or small openings. Aid in swallowing and digestion that shield your teeth from cavity causing bacteria
Pancreas
Long flat gland that lies horizontally behind your stomach. Has the role in digestion and regulating the level of sugar in your blood
Liver
Located in the upper right-hand portion of the abdominal cavity beneath the diaphragm & on top of your stomach, right kidney, & intestines. Shape of a cone.
Gallbladder
Stores bile, thick liquid that’s produced by the liver to help us digest fat. The more fat we eat the more bile the gallbladder injects into the digestive tract.
