Digestive Interactions-Working with Other Systems Flashcards
Circulatory
1.The digestive system absorbs water and nutrients from the food that you eat. The circulatory system carries oxygen, water, and nutrients to cells throughout your body. Wastes from the cells are eliminated by your respiratory system
Circulatory II
Absorb & deliver the digested nutrients to the cells
Muscular
The upper muscle in the stomach relaxes to allow food to enter, while the lower muscles mix food particles with stomach acid and enzymes. The digested food moves from the stomach to the intestines by peristalsis. Muscles contract to pass food out of the body as stool
Muscle II
Control the contractions of many of the digestive organs to pass food along
Nervous
The nervous system controls the digestive system by sending signals to the brain and organs. Some of these neurons pass on messages from one part of the body to another through electrical impulses.
Nervous II
hypothalamus maintain homeostasis by triggering appetite, digest (stomach growling)
