Diagnostic Criteria for MDD
"D-SIG-E-CAPS" - 5 or more with at least... DEPRESSION - Overall mood. Sleep - More or less. INTEREST (Anhedonia) - Decreased. Guilt - Unnecessarily. Energy - Decreased. Concentration - Decreased. Appetite - Increased or Decresed. Psychomotor Changes - Sluggish. Suicidality - Thoughts and/or Acts.
Medical Disorders associated with MDD
Hypothyroidism.
Low T.
Chronic diseases as a whole.
Drug induced.
PHQ-9
Patient Health Questionnaire-9 Self-report screening tool for MDD. 5 = mild. 10 = moderate. 15 = severe.
Interactions to consider with Antidepressants
CYP P450 Interactions.
SSRI’s and Blood Thinners - Increased risk of bleeds.
MAOI’s and Foods - Tyramine, Hypertensive crisis.
