Magnets 1 Flashcards
P3
List 2 types of magnets
- Induced
- Permanent
What is permanent magnets?
- It can attract or repel to other magnets
- It can produce it’s own magnetic field
What is Induced Magnets
Only attracted to other magnets
What are Domains?
small magnetic regions in a material
What happens to domains in Permanent Magnets?
Domains in permanent magnets lines up permanently
What happens to domains in Induced Magnets?
Domains in induced magnets lined up in field, but no longer line up as soon as the field is removed
What is Force Field?
Region in which a body experiences a force!
What is Magnetic Force?
attractive/repulsive force exerted between objects due to the motion of the charges
What is Right hand thumb rule
to work out direction of magnetic field
What does thumb (Right Hand Thumb Rule) used to measure?
Direction of current
What does fingers curled (right hand thumb rules) used to measure?
Direction of magnetic field
What does thumb in Fleming’s left hand used to measure?
Direction of the force
What does 1st finger in Flemming’s left hand usde to measure?
Direction of magnetic field
What does 2nd finger in Flemming’s left hand used to measure
Direction of current
