Q

How does the right hand grip rule work and when is it used (wire)?

A

THUMB = Direction of current
FINGERS = Direction of magnetic field lines.
This is used to determine the direction of magnetic field lines around a wire (when a current is passed through it).

Q

To make an electromagnet or magnetic field stronger, we can…

A

1) Wrap the wire into coils into coils and increase the number of coils.
2) Place it around an iron bar (called the core of the electromagnet).
2a) Use a ‘soft’ iron core.
3) Increase the current.

Q

The further away from the coil or wire we get, the magnetic field lines are…

A

Weaker and further apart. MAKE SURE TO SHOW THIS ON ALL DIAGRAMS IN THE TEST.
