- Produces neuromuscular blockade in CNS
- Physiological calcium channel blocker

Mag Sulfate Indications
A
- Refractory VFIB/pulseless VTAC(ACLS)
- Treatment for torsades de pointes(polymorphic VTAC)
- Seizures associated with eclampsia and alcohol withdrawal
- Dysthythmias associated with digitalis toxicity
- Bronchospasms refractory to traditional medications

A
- Cardiogenic shock

Mag Sulfate side effects
A
Cardio: dysrhythmias, bradycardia, hypotension, heart blocks
Neuro: drowsiness
Respiratory: decreased resp rate, respiratory paralysis
Other: Flushing, Sweating

Mag Sulfate routes/dosages
A
Routes: IVP, IO, IM, IVPB
Adult: 1-4g in 50-100ml NS IVPB/IVP over 5 minutes
Pediatric: 20-50mg/kg in 50-100 ml NS IVPB max single dose is 2g
