Reduces striated muscle contractions and blocks Peripheral neuromuscular transmission by reducing Acetylcholinesterase release at the Myoneural junction.

Seizures of Eclampsia, Torsades de pointes, Hypomagnesemia, TCA over-dose induced dysrhythmias, Digitalis-induced Dysrhythmias

Magnesium Sulfate; Dosage and Administration

A

Adult:
Eclamptic seizure: 1-4gm IV over 10 min
Torsades de pointes: 1-2 gm iv over 1-2 min
Pedi:
Asthma/Bronchospasm: 25mg/kg over 10 min IV
mixed with 50-100cc NS.
