A
  • not often
  • Bishop and Pope meet as General Council to make changes to Church
  • pontifical: pope makes declaration and has final authority
  • coniciliar: Pope, Bishops and Cardinals discuss big issues in church in Vatican in Rome e.g Nicene Creed and Vatican II docs

  • 1960s: met at Vatican cuz P wanted to “throw open the windows of the Church”
  • too seperate from outside world and religion
  • Catholics go Mass spoken in local language
  • altar changed so preist faces people to connect
